Niigata is a coastal city located on the western side of Japan, along the Sea of Japan. It is the capital of Niigata Prefecture and is known for its beautiful natural landscapes, rich cultural heritage like Yahiko Shrine, and thriving agriculture, especially rice production. Niigata is one of the largest rice-growing regions in Japan, and its high-quality rice is used to make some of the country's best traditional alcohol, Sake.

For food lovers, Niigata's Koshihikari rice and fresh seafood, including Sado Island’s seafood and Nodoguro fish, are must-try local delicacies.
